So you're expecting...

Having a maternity shoot can be exciting, but you may be feeling a little bit nervous about this. Whether you'll feel comfortable during the shoot, if you'll be able to handle being on your feet for so long, and what to wear to show off that bump, but to also feel like yourself. If you're unsure about whether you'd like one for these reasons, read below to find out how you can prepare for your maternity shoot to feel more comfortable.

FAQ

When should I session my schedule?

The bigger your bump, the better, but don't leave it too late! The best time to schedule would be at 30 to 35 weeks of your pregnancy, when your bump is visible but you are still comfortable enough to walk around. This also comes in handy if baby arrives earlier than expected!

How should I dress for my maternity session?

The best choice is to wear something you feel comfortable in! For those light and airy photo's, opt for pastel colours. But if you'd like to wear bright and bold colours, go for it. Try to find something that shows off you bump. Before our session, I will schedule a call and we can discuss various choices if you'd like some more guidance.

Will there be any breaks during the session?

Let your photographer know if you need a short break, don't keep quiet! For my sessions, I am flexible to allow for comfort breaks if needed. I usually like to find a place around benches or places to sit for my maternity clients to sit in between posing sets.

What should I bring with me to the session?

It's always good to have the following to hand when having a session:
- a bottle of water
- facial tissues
- a warm jacket or jumper
- a waterproof jacket
- comfortable shoes
- a snack bar
- any necessary medication

My partner doesn't want to join me, is that okay?

Yes! There are so many lovely maternity shoots with just the mommy-to-be. So if you decide to have the photo's with your partner, with your older kids, or just you with your baby, that's okay!
